  Overview

Embark on an unforgettable journey from Cusco to one of Peru’s most stunning natural wonders: Humantay Lake. Nestled high in the Andes, this glacial gem dazzles with its vibrant, turquoise waters, set against the dramatic backdrop of the sacred Humantay Mountain. This full-day adventure is a challenging yet incredibly rewarding trek, offering a glimpse into the pristine beauty of the Salkantay region and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

  Itinerary
  • Early Morning Departure (4:00 AM – 4:30 AM): We begin with a convenient pickup from your Cusco hotel. Settle in for a scenic drive through the changing landscapes of the Andes as the sun rises.

  • Hearty Breakfast in Mollepata
We’ll stop in the charming village of Mollepata for a hearty, traditional breakfast, fueling you for the hike ahead while you enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.

  • The Hike to a Hidden Gem
Arriving at Soraypampa (the trailhead at approx. 3,900m / 12,795ft), you’ll begin your ascent. The moderate 1.5 to 2-hour hike is a steady climb, revealing breathtaking vistas at every turn. For those who prefer, horses are available for rent (additional cost) for a portion of the journey.

  • The Reward: Breathtaking Humantay Lake
As you crest the final hill, the spectacular sight of Laguna Humantay will leave you speechless. The stunning turquoise water, fed by glacial melt, is a brilliant contrast to the rugged peaks. This is a sacred site to the local communities, and you’ll have ample time to absorb the serene beauty, take stunning photos, and participate in a traditional offering to the Apus (mountain spirits).

  • Descent, Lunch & Return Journey
After soaking in the views, we’ll descend back to Soraypampa. A delicious, well-deserved buffet lunch awaits at a local lodge, where you can relax and share stories of your achievement. We’ll then board our comfortable transport for the return to Cusco, with drop-off at your hotel between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM.
