Pre-Dawn: A Magical Start
Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your Cusco hotel. We’ll transfer you to the Ollantaytambo train station, where the first light of dawn kisses the Andean peaks. The anticipation builds as you board the comfortable and scenic Expedition train.
Morning: The Enchanting Train Ride & Ascent to the Citadel
Sit back and relax as the train winds its way along the roaring Urubamba River. Gaze through the large windows as the landscape transforms from highland plains to lush, cloud-enshrouded jungle. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our representative will greet you and escort you to the bus station for a thrilling 25-minute ride up the steep, winding road to the citadel’s entrance.
Mid-Day: The Lost City Revealed (Guided Tour)
Prepare to be awestruck. As you pass through the gate, the iconic postcard view of Machu Picchu unfolds before you. Your expert guide will lead you on a comprehensive 2 to 2.5-hour tour, bringing the stone city to life. You’ll explore the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana Stone, the Temple of the Condor, and the intricate residential and agricultural sectors. Your guide will share the history, architecture, and enduring mysteries that make this place so profound.
Afternoon: Free Time & The Return Journey
After the guided tour, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own, capture photos from different vantage points, or simply sit in quiet contemplation of the majesty around you. Afterwards, you’ll descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy a late lunch at one of the many local restaurants (at your own expense). In the afternoon, you’ll board the train for your relaxing return journey, filled with memories. Upon arrival at the station, our private vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your Cusco hotel by evening.

Do I need to bring my passport for this tour?
Yes. You will need your passport for your entry to Machu Picchu.
What type of transportation is used?
All the vehicles that we use for this type of tour are the Sprinter Mercedes Benz modern minibuses that have all the documentation required by the national authorities, all the vehicles are maintained daily to keep them in good conditions and clean and each vehicle has been properly logged.
What can I do in order to prevent the altitude sickness?
We recommend to be in Cusco at least 2 days and drink as much water as you can and drink coca tea that can be ordered anywhere you want, you can also prepare it yourself with boiled water and dried coca leaves. At least one day before the tour we recommend eating light food and if you have any medication prescribed by your doctor you can take it and the best thing that you can do is to keep in mind that you will be fine.
The time that we usually spend at the rainbow mountain viewpoint is about an hour, depends on the group pace and the weather conditions.
